Aluminium Luggage – Care & Warranty FAQ

Last reviewed: October 2026. Placeholders marked [CONFIRM] must be verified and updated by PYB Fashion before publishing.

1. Cosmetic Dents & Scratches

Will my aluminium suitcase dent or scratch easily?

Aluminium is a naturally soft metal chosen for its lightweight strength, not its scratch resistance. Surface marks, small dents, and scuffs from conveyor belts, airport trolleys, and luggage carousels are a normal part of the material's character — not manufacturing defects. Think of them the way you would patina on leather.

Are dents and scratches covered under warranty?

No. Cosmetic damage — including scratches, dents from handling, and paint or anodise wear — is considered normal wear and is excluded from the manufacturer warranty. The warranty covers structural and functional defects only (see Section 6).

Can dents be removed at home?

Minor surface dents can sometimes be reduced (not eliminated) using a rubber mallet and a soft cloth to cushion the impact. Deep or sharp-edged dents should be assessed by a professional luggage repair shop to avoid cracking the shell. Never use heat guns or power tools on aluminium shells.

What about scratches — can I touch them up?

For brushed-aluminium finishes, a dry Scotch-Brite™ pad (very fine grade) rubbed with the grain direction can blend light surface scratches. For anodised or painted finishes, use only a manufacturer-approved touch-up pen or leave the scratch as-is — abrasives will remove the coating permanently. Contact us at contact@pybfashion.com for finish-specific advice.

2. Cleaning & Everyday Care

How should I clean the aluminium shell?

Use a damp microfibre cloth with a small amount of mild, pH-neutral dish soap. Wipe in the direction of the finish grain, then dry immediately with a clean cloth. Never use:

  • Bleach or chlorine-based cleaners
  • Abrasive scrubbing pads on anodised or painted surfaces
  • Acetone, nail-polish remover, or solvent-based products
  • Pressure washers or immersion in water

Can I use metal polish on my suitcase?

Only on raw or brushed-aluminium panels. If your suitcase has an anodised, powder-coated, or painted finish, metal polish will strip the coating. When in doubt, skip the polish and use a damp cloth only.

How do I clean the interior lining?

Most PYB aluminium interiors have a fabric lining. Spot-clean with a damp cloth and mild soap. Allow to air-dry fully (at least 24 hours with the lid open) before repacking to prevent mildew. Do not machine-wash or steam-clean the interior.

What about after a monsoon flight or coastal trip?

Salt air and humidity accelerate corrosion on aluminium. After travel in coastal or high-humidity environments, wipe down the shell and all metal fittings (hinges, clasps, corner guards) with a dry cloth, then apply a very light coat of furniture wax or car wax to exposed metal edges. This is especially useful for the Mumbai–Goa and coastal routes common to Indian travellers.

3. Wheels

My wheels feel rough or noisy after checking in the bag — is that normal?

Yes, for the first few uses on rough Indian airport surfaces (older terminal floors, gravel car parks, cobblestones). Small debris can lodge in the wheel housing. Turn the bag upside down and remove any grit with a toothpick or soft brush. If the noise persists after cleaning, the wheel bearing may need replacement — contact us for a repair referral.

Which wheel type do PYB aluminium cases use?

[CONFIRM: Specify whether wheels are spinner (360°) or two-wheel (inline), the wheel diameter, and the material — e.g., silent rubber vs. polycarbonate treads.]

Are replacement wheels available?

[CONFIRM: Confirm whether PYB or the manufacturer supplies replacement wheels, the part number or ordering process, and approximate cost/lead time in India.]

Do the wheels hold up on Indian airport and road surfaces?

PYB aluminium luggage is designed for travel, including the varied surfaces common in Indian airports and city roads. However, rolling luggage on unpaved or heavily potholed surfaces significantly reduces wheel life and is not covered under warranty. Use a luggage cart or carry the bag on especially rough terrain.

4. Handles & Frame

How should I care for the telescopic handle?

Extend and retract the handle slowly — avoid forcing it if it feels stiff. If stiffness develops, apply a small amount of silicone-based lubricant (not WD-40, which attracts dust) to the handle rails. Never yank the handle sideways or use it to lift the entire bag's weight by swinging.

The handle is jammed — what do I do?

Check for visible debris or denting around the handle shaft. If the handle is jammed due to a frame impact, do not force it — forced extraction can crack the housing. Email contact@pybfashion.com with photos for assessment before attempting a repair.

Are carry handles and side handles covered if they tear?

Handle stitching and attachment points failing under normal load may qualify as a manufacturing defect — document with photos and raise a claim (see Section 6). Tears caused by overloading or using the handle for unusual lifting are not covered.

5. TSA Locks

Does my PYB aluminium suitcase have a TSA-approved lock?

[CONFIRM: Specify whether the combination lock is TSA-approved (TSA007 or similar), or whether it is a standard combination lock not approved for US travel.]

TSA agents cut my lock / forced the latch — is this covered?

Security inspections by TSA (USA), CISF (India), or any airport authority that result in lock damage or forced entry are not covered by the product warranty. These are acts of third parties outside PYB's control. If you travel to the United States, use only TSA-approved locks so agents can open the bag without forcing it. File a damage claim directly with the airline or the relevant airport authority immediately at the airport — delays may void their process.

I forgot my combination — how do I reset it?

The reset procedure depends on the specific lock fitted to your case. [CONFIRM: Include step-by-step reset instructions here, or link to the lock manufacturer's guide.] For assistance, email contact@pybfashion.com with your order number and lock model.

6. Warranty — What's Covered & How to Claim

What does the warranty cover?

The manufacturer warranty covers structural and functional defects that arise under normal use, including:

  • Frame or shell cracks not caused by impact or overloading
  • Zipper mechanism failure on interior compartments (if applicable)
  • Lock mechanisms that fail under normal operation
  • Handle mechanisms that fail under rated load
  • Hinge or latch failures not caused by forcing the case

Not covered: cosmetic damage (dents, scratches, finish wear), damage from airline or airport handling, TSA/security forced entry, overloading, use in conditions beyond the product's design, and damage from improper cleaning or storage.

How long does the warranty last?

[CONFIRM: Insert the warranty duration — e.g., "1 year from date of purchase" or "2 years from date of purchase" — as specified by the manufacturer. Do not leave blank before publishing.]

What evidence should I keep?

Keep the following from the moment you receive your bag:

  • Original invoice or order confirmation (email from PYB or your marketplace) — this is your proof of purchase and date
  • Unboxing video or photos — strongly recommended; many warranty disputes turn on whether damage was pre-existing or occurred in transit
  • Product serial number or batch code (usually found on a sticker inside the lid or on the base)
  • Packaging — keep for at least 7 days after delivery in case a return is needed

How do I raise a warranty claim?

  1. Document the issue: Take clear photographs and/or a short video showing the defect from multiple angles.
  2. Email us: Send your photos, order number, purchase date, and a description of the issue to contact@pybfashion.com with the subject line "Warranty Claim – [Your Order Number]".
  3. Assessment: Our team will review your claim and respond within [CONFIRM: insert business-day response target, e.g., 3–5 business days]. We may ask for additional photos or a video call inspection.
  4. Resolution: If the claim is approved, we will advise on next steps — which may include repair, part replacement, or escalation to the manufacturer. [CONFIRM: Specify whether PYB handles repair/replacement directly, or routes to a manufacturer service centre, and whether collection/shipping costs are covered.]

What is the expected response path for warranty claims in India?

All initial warranty queries are handled by PYB Fashion directly. Depending on the nature of the defect, the claim may be:

  • Resolved by PYB (part dispatch, repair referral in your city), or
  • Escalated to the manufacturer's India service network for inspection

[CONFIRM: If the manufacturer has authorised service centres in India, list the cities or link to the service locator here.]

Can I get my bag repaired locally?

Yes — for non-warranty cosmetic repairs (wheel replacement, dent work, re-lining), authorised luggage repair shops in most Indian cities can assist. Using an unauthorised repair shop for a structural issue before raising a warranty claim may void the claim. Always contact PYB first if you believe the issue is warranty-eligible.
